Nesting Software -How to Justify the Purchase

Most shops have the mission of choosing a Nesting Software. Most of the time, a benchmark is needed to present for the team and management. Those who have a good foundation of why and how the nesting software will bring return and how this will be done in the short term, take the early lead. The question that arises is how a nesting software will pay itself? Maybe you still have doubts if it pays at all. The answer unfolds in several ways. Sheet Efficiency Although it is not the only justification for contracting a nesting software, material saving is certainly the most widely used factor to justify the hiring of a solution. In most cases, the nesting software result in material reduction in the order of two digits. That is, a manufacturer may view from one moment to the other a fall in consumption around 15 and 40% in a few weeks. This figure, when multiplied by the price of pound of sheets and boards, certainly represents a much bigger economy than the cost of the subscription of the nesting software. Note that these are real costs, which are measurable and becomes easy to observe the direct impact on consumption of the blanks. It is very straightforward to justify costs. Need to know in detail how much material a nesting software can save? Ask a benchmark study for us help to determine these values. Increased Production Flow The production flow is a discussion about the quantity of products that move around the shop in a given period of time. The caveats of this flow (drop in productivity) arises by several sides. Additional tasks, cutters set up, sheet logistics, tools, errors etc. It can be costly to move sheets around the shop track produced parts. Nesting software can minimize or eliminate unnecessary steps to improve the production flow. If the programming involve more than one application at the same time, if the operator change less the cutting tool or if there are fewer sizes of plates for use, time and money will be saved. Cutting Path Optimization Another way to increase productivity is to give special attention to programming of the cutting path. The important thing here is to note the time that the cutting tool takes to traverse the whole plate. Obviously, the less time the machine take to cut all parts, greater productivity. Automatic nesting software can optimize the cutting plans to this end. Savings in Programming Time Sometimes a significant savings (up to 90%) in the time of cut sequence programming can be good enough to justify the purchase of a nesting software. There are three ways to identify opportunities to reduce costs. 1-when people spend a lot of time doing cutting programming, while they could be doing other activities; 2-when demand is not being met due to the bottleneck created in the programming of the cuts; 3-If overtime is required (increased costs) to put the production days. The best way to know how much time we can save is to make a comparison between how long it takes today and the results obtained from the nesting software being evaluated. In conclusion As we have seen, there are various approaches to meet the needs to justify the acquisition of a nesting software. The answer would be a closer look at one of these approaches and put on a good case study. If this is difficult, you can count on us to draw up this study. What And you? Are you looking to assemble a case study to justify a nesting software? What's your approach?
